“Moving away to Boarding School can be an exciting, daunting and overwhelming time for students and families. In my role as Director of Boarding, I have the privilege of being part of a great community that genuinely supports and cares for its members. I like to think of the St Joe’s Boarding House as a place where students feel happy, comfortable, supported and are given the opportunities to grow and reach their full potential.
I’d love to show you around and welcome you into our boarding family.”

Kate Benjamin - Director of Boarding

Head, Heart and Hands together in Boarding

St Joseph’s School Boarding House offers 7 day co-educational boarding accommodation for students from Years 7-12. Boarding offers a unique experience for students from a rural and remote area and allows them a wide range of opportunities they might not otherwise enjoy. Emotional, spiritual and physical wellbeing are the main priorities for the Boarding House staff who work with students to welcome them into a nurturing and caring family. Boarding at St Joseph’s has been a long standing tradition on the Eyre Peninsula for many decades, and is an important part of our school’s identity.

Home like environment

At the start of 2017 we opened our new modern boarding accommodation. This state of the art facility provides students with single room accommodation, various breakout spaces and common areas and comfortable and practical outdoor areas.

TV and DVD Player, kitchen facilities, lounges and dining furniture are provided in each accommodation building as well as a large common recreation area with table tennis, air hockey and other activities.

All rooms and buildings are operated with key cards providing a high level of security for personal belongings and facilities. All bedrooms and common areas are also fitted with reverse cycle air-conditioning.

The students are provided with fresh and nutritious meals prepared in our modern commercial kitchen by our experienced and qualified chef. The students share breakfast and dinner together each day and have provisions for a packed lunch.

Support for your child

Situated conveniently next to the school, the students have easy access to these facilities during mornings and afternoons. Students attend evening study each week night in the school’s Resource Centre, supervised by a qualified teacher or tutor who is able to provide valuable assistance.

Students develop independence and personal responsibility whilst boarding, however, support is offered to assist them in their day to day responsibilities and duties. Laundry is completed twice a week for each boarder, as well as their bedrooms professionally cleaned.
